A mathematical model of transmission of rice tungro disease by Nephotettix Virescens

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
One of the major threats in rice agriculture is the Tungro virus, which is transmitted semi-persistently to rice plants via green rice leafhoppers called Nephotettix Virescens. Tungro is polycyclic and complex disease of rice associated by dual infection with Rice Tungro Bacilliform Virus (RTBV) and Rice Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV).

Spread of Plant Virus Disease to New Plantings: A Case Study of Rice Tungro Disease

2006
The spread of plant virus disease between fields is reviewed for several horticultural and agricultural crops. Previous studies have focused on cropping systems where there is scope for using separation in time and space to reduce the potential for virus spread between plantings.

Serological Monitoring of Rice Tungro Disease Development in the Field: Its Implication in Disease Management

Plant Disease, 1993
Rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) and rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) were monitored in transplanted rice (Oryza sativa) by latex test or by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RTSV was detected 1 wk after transplanting, and the incidence increased rapidly within 2-3 wk. Dual infection by RTBV and RTSV was detected 2 wk after transplanting.
