PLDC‐Net: A Domain‐Specific Base Model for Plant Leaf Disease Classification Domain Adaptation Tasks

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant diseases are the cause of heavy losses of crop production and, therefore, a big contributor to food shortages. Identifying these diseases as early as possible is important to limit the negative effects that these diseases have on the yields, as slow response time will lead to the spread of diseases and further loss.

Suppression of cell wall-related genes associated with stunting of Oryza glaberrima infected with Rice tungro spherical virus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2014
Rice tungro disease is a complex disease caused by the interaction between Rice tungro bacilliform virus and Rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV). RTSV alone does not cause recognizable symptoms in most Asian rice (Oryza sativa) plants, whereas some ...

Image classification and identification for rice leaf diseases based on improved WOACW_SimpleNet

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
In view of the problem that manual selection of hyperparameters may lead to low performance and large consumption of manpower cost of the convolutional neural network (CNN), this paper proposes a nonlinear convergence factor and weight cooperative self ...

Temporal patterns and management effectiveness of insect pests and diseases in Boro rice cultivation: A 5‐year analysis (2019–2023)

open access: yesUrban Agriculture &Regional Food Systems, Volume 11, Issue 1, 2026.
Abstract Boro rice (Oryza sativa L.) plays a crucial role in ensuring food security in Bangladesh, yet its productivity is challenged by recurring insect pest and disease outbreaks. This study analyzed 5 years (2019–2023) of data to assess the temporal patterns of insect pest and disease outbreaks in Boro rice cultivation in Bangladesh and evaluate the

SwiftM: A Novel Botanical Knowledge Distillation Framework for Biology‐Informed Plant Disease Recognition

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Current plant disease detection systems often overlook botanical expertise, limiting diagnostic accuracy. We propose SwiftM, a novel framework that integrates plant anatomical knowledge into deep learning through botanical knowledge distillation, structure‐aware graph representation and sparse attention over botanical graphs.
