Transition from tunneling to direct contact in tungsten nanojunctions [PDF]
We apply the mechanically controllable break junctions technique to investigate the transition from tunneling to direct contact in tungsten. This transition is quite different from that of other metals and is determined by the local electronic properties

The promotion effect of uniaxial strain on hydrogen aggregation in tungsten
The aggregation behavior of hydrogen (H) isotopes after low-energy plasma irradiation is particularly important for tungsten (W) in future fusion devices. Here, using the first-principles calculation, we demonstrated an interesting strain effect that may

CCVD synthesis of carbon nanotubes with W/Co–MgO catalysts. [PDF]
Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were synthesized from a H2–CH4 mixture with W/Co–MgO catalyst by a catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method. Different W/Co ratios were investigated.

Ductilisation of tungsten (W): Tungsten laminated composites
Here we elucidate the mechanisms of plastic deformation and fracture of tungsten laminated composites. Our results suggest that the mechanical response of the laminates is governed by the plastic deformation of the tungsten plies. In most cases, the impact of the interlayer is of secondary importance.

Molecular dynamics analysis of primary radiation damage evolution in nickel, iron, and tungsten
BackgroundNickel-, iron- and tungsten-based alloys are commonly used as structural materials of reactors. During their operational life, these alloys undergo intense neutron irradiation.PurposeThis study aims to analyze the post-irradiation defect ...

OXIDATION OF TUNGSTEN AND TUNGSTEN BASED ALLOYS [PDF]
Abstract : The results of studies related to the oxidation of W and its alloys are studied. The pressure of WO3 polymers over WO2 was measured in a W Knudsen cell and found to agree with measurements in a Pt cell. Literature data for WO2 WO3 were combined with vapor pressures determined in this project to give thermodynamic values for W18O49 and W20O58.
