Visible emission spectroscopy of highly charged tungsten ions in LHD: II. Evaluation of tungsten ion temperature [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Scr. 90 (2015) 125403 (7pp), 2020
We demonstrated a polarization-resolved high resolution spectroscopy of a visible emission line of highly charged tungsten ions ({\lambda}0 = 668.899 nm, Shinohara et al Phys. Scr. 90 125402) for the large helical device (LHD) plasma, where the tungsten ions were introduced by a pellet injection.

Recent Advances in the Utilization of Tungsten Residue: A Mini Review of China

open access: yesMetals, 2023
As a metal of strategic value, tungsten plays an important part in civil and military applications. Currently, China is the biggest tungsten producer all over the world, and the metallic smelting technologies for tungsten are well established.

Deuterium retention in tungsten fiber-reinforced tungsten composites [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2021
In future fusion reactors, plasma-facing materials (PFMs) have to withstand unique conditions such as high temperatures, ion and neutron irradiation. Tungsten (W) has been established as main candidate material due to its favorable properties regarding the fusion environment but brings one major challenge: Its brittleness at moderate temperatures can ...

Stress Analysis of Tungsten Deposition in a 3D Trench Mold With Regard to Initial Nuclei Shape

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Tungsten has been commonly used for fine interconnects due to its good gap-filling characteristics in 3D molds, such as trench patterns. However, tungsten shows high deposition stress. This causes mold distortion because tungsten has low ad-atom mobility,

On local sensing of spin Hall effect in tungsten films by using STM-based measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The spin Hall effect in tungsten films has been experimentally studied by using STM-based measurements. These measurements have been performed by using tungsten and iron coated tungsten tips. In the case of tungsten tips, it has been observed that the current flow through the tungsten film results in an appreciable asymmetry in the tunneling current ...

Large remnant polarization and great reliability characteristics in W/HZO/W ferroelectric capacitors

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
In this work, the effect of rapid thermal annealing (RTA) temperature on the ferroelectric polarization in zirconium-doped hafnium oxide (HZO) was studied. To maximize remnant polarization (2Pr), in-plane tensile stress was induced by tungsten electrodes

Electrodialytic removal of tungsten and arsenic from secondary mine resources: Deep eutectic solvents enhancement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Tungsten is a critical raw material for European and U.S. economies. Tungsten mine residues, usually considered an environmental burden due to e.g. arsenic content, are also secondary tungsten resources. The electrodialytic (ED) process and deep eutectic solvents (DES) have been successfully and independently applied for the extraction of metals ...

Recent advances of nickel hydroxide-based cocatalysts in heterogeneous photocatalysis

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2022
Earth-abundant nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)2)-based cocatalysts, by virtue of its bargain price, simple synthesis and diverse structure, have attracted increasing research interest in the field of solar-to-fuels conversion.

On the miscibility gap in tungsten-based alloys [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In this work we establish an approach to model miscibility gaps of alloys using statistical physics, lattice dynamics from first-principles calculations. We carefully calculate the entropy to include all processes introducing disorder to the system, i.e., combining the electronic, phononic, and configuration entropies.
