Solvent-Free Synthesis of Ultrafine Tungsten Carbide Nanoparticles-Decorated Carbon Nanosheets for Microwave Absorption

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters, 2020
Ultrafine tungsten carbide nanoparticles-decorated carbon nanosheets were successfully fabricated via a simple solvent-free strategy. The chemical composition of tungsten carbide/carbon composites can be easily manipulated by the weight ratio of ...

Heat Capacity and Thermodynamic Functions of Sr(La1-xLnx)2WO7 Compounds Doped with Samarium and Europium

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2021
Samples based on strontium, lanthanum and tungsten with the general formula of Sr(La1-xLnx)2WO7 doped with samarium and europium at 1 and 3 at.% were synthesized by the solid-phase method at temperatures up to 1200 °C.

Transition from tunneling to direct contact in tungsten nanojunctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We apply the mechanically controllable break junctions technique to investigate the transition from tunneling to direct contact in tungsten. This transition is quite different from that of other metals and is determined by the local electronic properties

The promotion effect of uniaxial strain on hydrogen aggregation in tungsten

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2023
The aggregation behavior of hydrogen (H) isotopes after low-energy plasma irradiation is particularly important for tungsten (W) in future fusion devices. Here, using the first-principles calculation, we demonstrated an interesting strain effect that may

Recent DIII-D progress toward validating models of tungsten erosion, re-deposition, and migration for application to next-step fusion devices

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
Fundamental mechanisms governing the erosion and prompt re-deposition of tungsten impurities in tokamak divertors are identified and analyzed to inform the lifetime of tungsten plasma-facing components in ITER and other future devices.

CCVD synthesis of carbon nanotubes with W/Co–MgO catalysts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were synthesized from a H2–CH4 mixture with W/Co–MgO catalyst by a catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method. Different W/Co ratios were investigated.

Ductilisation of tungsten (W): Tungsten laminated composites

open access: yesInternational Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, 2017
Here we elucidate the mechanisms of plastic deformation and fracture of tungsten laminated composites. Our results suggest that the mechanical response of the laminates is governed by the plastic deformation of the tungsten plies. In most cases, the impact of the interlayer is of secondary importance.

Molecular dynamics analysis of primary radiation damage evolution in nickel, iron, and tungsten

open access: yesHe jishu, 2023
BackgroundNickel-, iron- and tungsten-based alloys are commonly used as structural materials of reactors. During their operational life, these alloys undergo intense neutron irradiation.PurposeThis study aims to analyze the post-irradiation defect ...

OXIDATION OF TUNGSTEN AND TUNGSTEN BASED ALLOYS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
Abstract : The results of studies related to the oxidation of W and its alloys are studied. The pressure of WO3 polymers over WO2 was measured in a W Knudsen cell and found to agree with measurements in a Pt cell. Literature data for WO2 WO3 were combined with vapor pressures determined in this project to give thermodynamic values for W18O49 and W20O58.
