Molybdenum and Tungsten Bronzes
1996There has been a great deal of interest in reduced transition metal oxide bronzes for several decades. Sodium tungsten oxide, NaxWO3 was discovered by Wohler in 1825, who called these materials bronzes, because of their metallic luster [1]. The term bronze has been extended to a large variety of ternary transition metal oxides with the general formula ...

Intergrowth tungsten bronzes of bismuth
Materials Research Bulletin, 1984High resolution electron microscopic studies show that bismuth forms intergrowth tungsten bronzes containing varying widths of the WO3 slab and one-tunnel wide HTB strips.

Optical properties of the sodium-tungsten bronzes and tungsten trioxide
Physical Review B, 1978A polarization-modulation ellipsometric technique was used to make direct measurements of the optical dielectric constants of single-crystal specimens of the nonstoichiometric tungsten-bronze compound ${\mathrm{Na}}_{x}\mathrm{W}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ ($0.52lxl0.94$) and W${\mathrm{O}}_{3}$, in the energy range from 1.0 to 5.5 eV.

Double phase conjugation in tungsten bronze crystals
Applied Optics, 1990In this paper we report a new method for double phase conjugation particularly suited to the tungsten bronze crystal strontium barium niobate. It has also been observed to produce conjugate waves in BaTiO(3) and BSKNN. This new arrangement is called the bridge conjugator because the two beams enter opposing [100] crystal faces and fan together to form ...

Electronic structure of cubic sodium tungsten bronze
Physical Review B, 1987The electronic band structure of cubic ${\mathrm{NaWO}}_{3}$ has been calculated self-consistently with the semirelativistic linear muffin-tin orbital method. The inclusion of the relativistic band shifts and the self-consistent charge transfer substantially modifies the position and width of the valence bands, bringing them into much better agreement ...

Electronic Properties of the Tungsten Bronzes
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1965The magnetic susceptibility and specific heat of the metallic sodium tungsten bronzes NaxWO3 are explained by a model in which the Fermi energy does not depend on the sodium concentration x. The disappearance of metallic conductivity at small x is associated with finite cluster sizes of sodium atoms.

Abstract : Rare earth tungsten bronzes such as cerium tungsten bronze (CexWO3) europium tungsten bronze (EuxWO3) and gadolinium tungsten bronze (GdxWO3) have been prepared for the first time. All compounds were cooled rapidly from 1000 C to room temperature and exhibit a cubic perovskite type structure.
