Ordering of Tungsten Carbides

2013
Atomic ordering of strongly nonstoichiometric compounds like carbides of transition metals is a very widespread phenomenon. The lower tungsten carbide \(\mathrm{W}_{2}\mathrm{C}_{y}\) is a strongly nonstoichiometric interstitial compound and has a wide homogeneity interval \(\mathrm{WC}_{0.34}-\mathrm{WC}_{0.52}\) at a temperature \(\sim \)3000 K.

Ballistic impact experiments of tungsten carbide projectiles onto tungsten carbide targets

2008
The dynamic behaviour of similar grades of 6.5-10.3% Co WC hardmetals has been investigated using high speed photography in the velocity regime 130-500m/s using two different techniques: AP core-core impact and sphere-disc impact tests. Failure has been shown to occur along the Co matrix, with slight evidence of trans-granular fracture at higher impact
