Leiomyoma of the tunica albuginea in a horse

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Pathology, 1989
A leiomyoma of the left testicle was found in a 7-year-old Arabian stallion at routine castration. The neoplasm consisted of interlacing bundles of well-differentiated, haphazardly arranged, smooth muscle cells attached superficially to the tunica albuginea.

Bovine pericardium in penile prosthesis reimplantation

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2007
We present a case of a patient who underwent a late penile prosthesis implant using bovine pericardium as a complement to the tunica albuginea involved in intense fibrosis that destroyed the corpus cavernosum after an infectious manifestation.

The autonomous innervation of the buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) testis. An immunohistochemical study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2009
The innervation pattern in the buffalo testis was determined by using histochemical and immunohistochemical methods. Nerves were concentrated in the tunica albuginea and septula testis, and did not show an uniform distribution.

The KIF6‐RBP Complex Orchestrates mRNA Transport Required for Sperm Flagellar Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two homozygous deleterious KIF6 variants are identified in unrelated men with impaired sperm motility. Mouse models and multi‐omics analyses reveal that KIF6 cooperates with the RNA‐binding proteins FMRP and FXR1 to deliver mRNAs essential for sperm flagellar assembly, linking disrupted mRNA transport to reduced abundance of key structural and ...

Urgent-setting magnetic resonance imaging allows triage of extensive penoscrotal hematoma following blunt trauma

open access: yesJournal of Emergencies, Trauma and Shock, 2013
Although uncommon, blunt trauma to the perineum may cause serious injury to the penis. Differentiation between penile fracture with torn tunica albuginea versus extratunical or cavernosal hematomas is crucial because the former condition needs early ...

Gonadal development in scorpion mud‐turtles, Kinosternon scorpioides, in a controlled environment

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Stage 20 was identified as the critical point for gonadal differentiation in Kinosternon scorpioides, providing key insights into sex determination. These findings enhance conservation strategies by supporting reproductive management and population viability in both in situ and ex situ programs. Abstract Research on gonadal development including sexual
