A Patient‐Specific 3D Printed Carotid Artery Model Integrating Vascular Structure, Flow, and Endothelium Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 4, 26 January 2026.
This study introduces the first miniaturized, patient‐specific carotid artery model created via 3D printing using GelMA with embedded vascular cells. Combining CFD, PIV, and flow perfusion, the model replicates anatomically dependent hemodynamics and cellular responses.

Sacrificial Biofabrication for Vascularization: Concept, Materials, Technologies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 2, 8 January 2026.
Vasculature is indispensable for tissue viability in regenerative medicine. The sacrificial biofabrication enables precise fabrication of vascular channels by using temporary templates that are subsequently removed. This review defines the concept and delves into sacrificial materials, surrounding materials, fabrication technologies, and biomedical ...

Age changes in the tunica intima of the aorta in goat (Capra hircus)

open access: yesAnatomy Journal of Africa, 2015
Age changes in the aortic tunica intima may explain the higher prevalence of atherosclerosis among the elderly. Goat is a suitable model for the study of cardiovascular disease but the age changes in its aortic tunica intima are unreported. This study therefore examined structural changes that occur in the tunica intima of its aorta.

Unusual Muscle-related Morphological Features Detected in the Cranial Cava Vein in 10-day-old Broiler Chickens

open access: yesBulletin of University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca: Veterinary Medicine
The birds, in contrast to mammals, have two cranial cava veins. The two cranial cava veins and caudal cava vein are the largest veins in chickens. In general, veins have a wall consisting of 3 tunics: intima, media, and adventitia.

Effect of Mung Bean Sprout (Vigna radiata (L)) Extract on Physical Stress-Induced Atherosclerosis of Male Wistar Rat

open access: yesJournal of Agromedicine and Medical Sciences (AMS), 2015
Coronary heart disease is an important health problem. It is estimated that the death rate from coronary heart disease by 23,4 millions in 20130 (WHO, 2009). Excessive physical activity can cause oxidative stress which lead to atherosclerosis.
