A Large-scale Study of Social Media Sources in News Articles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this study, we closely look at the use of social media contents as source or reference in the U.S. news media. Specifically, we examine about 60 thousand news articles published within the 5 years period of 2013-2017 by 153 U.S. media outlets and analyze use of social media content as source compared to other sources.

Cross-media Multi-level Alignment with Relation Attention Network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
With the rapid growth of multimedia data, such as image and text, it is a highly challenging problem to effectively correlate and retrieve the data of different media types. Naturally, when correlating an image with textual description, people focus on not only the alignment between discriminative image regions and key words, but also the relations ...

Key Predictors of Relevant Weight Loss in Patients With Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Weight loss is an effective therapeutic strategy for patients with metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). This study aimed to identify factors that predict relevant weight loss, defined as at least 7% of initial body weight, in MASLD outpatients.

Implication of bone regulatory factors in human coronary artery calcification

open access: yesArtery Research, 2011
Background: Although emerging evidence suggests that vascular calcification constitutes an active process sharing common features with bone formation, several aspects of this process in human coronary artery calcification are still poorly understood.

Tuning superconductivity in nanosecond laser annealed boron doped $Si_{1-x}Ge_{x}$ epilayers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Superconductivity in ultra-doped $Si_{1-x}Ge_{x}:B$ epilayers is demonstrated by nanosecond laser doping, which allows introducing substitutional B concentrations well above the solubility limit and up to $7\,at.\%$. A Ge fraction $x$ ranging from 0 to 0.21 is incorporated in $Si:B$ : 1) through a precursor gas by Gas Immersion Laser Doping; 2) by ion ...

Roles of fibronectin isoforms in neonatal vascular development and matrix integrity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fibronectin (FN) exists in two forms—plasma FN (pFN) and cellular FN (cFN). Although the role of FN in embryonic blood vessel development is well established, its function and the contribution of individual isoforms in early postnatal vascular ...
