Coronary heart disease is an important health problem. It is estimated that the death rate from coronary heart disease by 23,4 millions in 20130 (WHO, 2009). Excessive physical activity can cause oxidative stress which lead to atherosclerosis.

Proximal Pulmonary Artery Stiffening as a Biomarker of Cardiopulmonary Aging
Mouse models revealed age‐associated increased circumferential stiffness of the proximal pulmonary artery that was associated with reorientation of collagen and decreased function of the lung and right ventricle. Age‐related transcriptional changes were indicative of senescence, ECM turnover, TGFβ signaling, and altered intercellular signaling among ...

Abstract Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is a metabolically active visceral fat depot located between the myocardium and the visceral pericardium, exerting direct paracrine and vasocrine effects on the heart and coronary vessels. Under physiological conditions, EAT supports myocardial energy metabolism and thermoregulation through fatty acid supply and

Ischemic Stroke in a Talapoin Monkey (Miopithecus talapoin)
ABSTRACT A captive senile talapoin monkey (Miopithecus talapoin) developed sudden neurological signs and died within 24 h. Necropsy revealed an extensive infarct in the right hemisphere, from occipital to frontal lobe. Microscopy showed a thrombus, neuronal edema, and necrosis, and arteriosclerosis, characterizing an ischemic stroke.

Abstract Spinal cord injury (SCI) is characterized by autonomic cardiovascular dysfunction that may contribute to the three‐ to fourfold greater risk of heart disease and stroke compared to non‐injured individuals. While exercise training elicits beneficial changes in autonomic function and vascular structure in healthy individuals, it is unclear if ...

application/pdf Objectives Aging causes stiffness and decreased function of the renal artery (RA). Histological study with light microscopy can reveal microscopic structural remodeling but no functional changes. The present study aimed to clarify the association between structural and functional aging of the RA through the use of scanning acoustic ...
