HISTOMORPHOLOGICAL STUDY ON THE CAROTID SINUS IN RABBIT

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2022
Histomorphological study confirmed that the carotid sinus was characterized by an abrupt thinning of elastic tunica media which was rapidly replaced by the normal muscularity of the media on the distal progression in the internal carotid artery.

Study of Morphometry and Elastic Fibre Distribution in Left and Right Coronary Arteries [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences University, 2019
Background: Coronary artery disease also called as ischemic heart disease which develops when major blood vessels that supply blood to heart become damaged or diseased. It is also one of the leading causes of death.

Distribution and functional significance of muscle islands in the tunica media of the aorta in the goat (Capra hircus)

open access: diamondCluj Veterinary Journal
The presence of muscle islands in the tunica media of elastic arteries has been reported in both large and small ruminants. According to some authors, these islands can have a certain influence on the physical-mechanical properties and the pattern of ...

An investigation of an autonomic innervation of the vertebral artery using monoamine histofluorescence

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2009
Blood flow to the hindbrain, via the paired vertebral arteries, must be uncompromised for adequate neurological functioning of its vital centres. Therefore, it would seem unlikely that the intracranial vertebral artery would need to vasoconstrict, thus ...

Cryopreserved human aortic root allografts arterial wall: Structural changes occurring during thawing. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
BACKGROUND:The aim of our experimental work was to assess morphological changes of arterial wall that arise during different thawing protocols of a cryopreserved human aortic root allograft (CHARA) arterial wall.

Delayed traumatic superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysm and arteriovenous fistula over the left lower limb

open access: yesIndian Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2022
A pseudoaneurysm is a pulsating, encapsulated hematoma in communication with a ruptured vessel (1); there is an accumulation of blood between the tunica media and tunica adventitia layers of the vessel. We report a case of a young male with complaints of

Tunable Bioresorbable Scaffolds With Marine Sulfated Polysaccharides for Small‐Caliber Vascular Grafts: A Multi‐Layered Strategy Combining Electrospinning and 4‐Axis Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A multilayered small‐caliber vascular scaffold combining electrospinning and 4‐axis printing is developed and biofunctionalized with marine sulfated polysaccharides from Holothuria tubulosa. The resulting construct exhibits enhanced hemocompatibility, tunable mechanical properties, and supports endothelial and smooth muscle cell adhesion and ...

IL1R2 Marks and Sorts a Spermatogonial Stem Cell Population Critical for Restoring Spermatogenesis Upon Interruption in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) provide critical support to spermatogenesis. Here, the author established Il1r2 as a sorting marker for SSCs, with which further insights into the SSC heterogeneity and dynamic features can be obtained. They also confirmed findings in both mouse and human, thus validating IL1R2 as the surface marker for isolating and ...

NFS1 Regulates IDH2 to Attenuate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms via Interacting With SP2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of NFS1 leads to its reduced binding with the transcription factor SP2, resulting in decreased expression of the downstream gene Idh2. This causes a shift in energy supply toward glycolysis in VSMCs, ultimately contributing to the occurrence and progression of AAA.
