Application of Advanced CFD Tools for High Reynolds Number Testing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Numerical simulations of the DLR F11 high lift half model in landing configuration in the test section of the ETW wind tunnel have been carried out with the unstructured CFD code DLR TAU.

Risk Assessment System Based on Fuzzy Composite Evaluation and a Backpropagation Neural Network for a Shield Tunnel Crossing under a River

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Constructing a shield tunnel that crosses under a river poses considerable safety risks, and risk assessment is essential for guaranteeing the safety of tunnel construction. This paper studies a risk assessment system for a shield tunnel crossing under a

Investigation on Seismic Response of Long-Span Special Steel Truss Cable-Stayed Bridge

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
Due to the small self-weight of the steel truss cable-stayed bridge with a single tower and a single cable plane, the torsional stiffness and wind stability of the structure are reduced. The arrangement of the deck type makes the mechanical properties of

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Interfacial behaviour in Tunnel engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The force imparted on the soil by a tunnel boring machine can lead to catastrophic tunnel collapse. To help predict this behaviour the machine is modelled as point source in an elastic/plastic idealized soil with no cohesion. The model predicts a wedge shaped region of plasticity extending from the machine.

Aerofoil behaviour at high angles of attack and at Reynolds numbers appropriate for small wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aerodynamic characteristics of a NACA0018 aerofoil have been investigated experimentally for incidence angles ranging from 0° to 180° in closed-jet and open-jet wind tunnels with different blockage coefficients at Reynolds numbers from 60,000 to 140 ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Research on he Classification of Life-Cycle Safety Monitoring Levels of Subsea Tunnels

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2017
As a traffic engineering project across straits or gulfs, subsea tunnel is one of the oceaneering with great construction difficulties, and the key to the success of subsea tunnel engineering lies in timely and accurate assessment of the structure safety

A Wind Tunnel Simulation Facility for On-Road Transients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper outlines the creation of a facility for simulating on-road transients in a model scale, ¾ open jet, wind tunnel. Aerodynamic transients experienced on-road can be important in relation to a number of attributes including vehicle handling ...
