Double-Fourier engineering of Josephson energy-phase relationships applied to diodes

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2023
We present a systematic method to design arbitrary energy-phase relations using parallel arms of two series Josephson tunnel junctions each. Our approach employs Fourier engineering in the energy-phase relation of each arm and the position of the arms in

Phase-tunable thermoelectricity in a Josephson junction

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Superconducting tunnel junctions constitute the units of superconducting quantum circuits and are massively used both for quantum sensing and quantum computation.

Josephson tunnel junction microwave attenuator [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 1993
A new element for superconducting electronic circuitry—a variable attenuator—has been proposed, designed, and successfully tested. The principle of operation is based on the change in the microwave impedance of a superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) Josephson tunnel junction when dc biased at different points in the current-voltage ...

Manipulation and Generation of Supercurrent in Out-of-Equilibrium Josephson Tunnel Nanojunctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We demonstrate experimentally manipulation of supercurrent in Al-AlO_x-Ti Josephson tunnel junctions by injecting quasiparticles in a Ti island from two additional tunnel-coupled Al superconducting reservoirs.

Engineering double-well potentials with variable-width annular Josephson tunnel junctions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2016
Long Josephson tunnel junctions are non-linear transmission lines that allow propagation of current vortices (fluxons) and electromagnetic waves and are used in various applications within superconductive electronics.

Superelliptic Josephson Tunnel Junctions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Low Temperature Physics, 2017
The most important practical characteristic of a Josephson junction is its critical current. The shape of the junction determines the specific form of the magnetic-field dependence of the its Josephson current. Here we address the magnetic diffraction patterns of specially shaped planar Josephson tunnel junctions.

Atomic-Layer Engineering of La2−xSrxCuO4—La2−xSrxZnO4 Heterostructures

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The fabrication of trilayer superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) Josephson junctions with high-temperature superconductor (HTS) electrodes requires atomically perfect interfaces.

Low barrier ZrOx-based Josephson junctions [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Materials
The Josephson junction is a crucial element in superconducting devices, and niobium is a promising candidate for the superconducting material due to its large energy gap relative to aluminum.

Magnifying Quantum Phase Fluctuations with Cooper-Pair Pairing

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2022
Remarkably, complex assemblies of superconducting wires, electrodes, and Josephson junctions are compactly described by a handful of collective phase degrees of freedom that behave like quantum particles in a potential.

Soliton Excitations In Josephson Tunnel Junctions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 1983
A detailed numerical study of a sine-Gordon model of the Josephson tunnel junction is compared with experimental measurements on junctions with different L/λ J ratio. The soliton picture is found to apply well on both relative long (L/λ J = 6) and intermediate (L/λ J . = 2) junctions.
