Graphene nanoribbons with zigzag and armchair edges prepared by scanning tunneling microscope lithography on gold substrates

open access: yes, 2014
The properties of graphene nanoribbons are dependent on both the nanoribbon width and the crystallographic orientation of the edges. Scanning tunneling microscope lithography is a method which is able to create graphene nanoribbons with well defined edge

QUANTUM TUNNELING [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Dedicated to the memory of Professor Michael Marinov, a friend, a colleague and a man of firm principles who believed in his right to live in peace in Israel, the land of his ancestors (Latex, 5 eps figures, uses sprocl style), to be published in the Michael Marinov Memorial Volume, Eds. M. Olshanetsky and A. Vainshtein (World Scientific, 2002)

Spin and Charge Control of Topological End States in Chiral Graphene Nanoribbons on a 2D Ferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral graphene nanoribbons on a ferromagnetic gadolinium‐gold surface alloy display tunable spin and charge states at their termini. Atomic work function variations and exchange fields enabe transitions between singlet, doublet, and triplet configurations.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Analysis of tunneling nanotubes formation in U937 drived macrophages

open access: yes, 2021
Tunneling nanotubes (TNT) are F-actin-based membranous tubes. They constitute a mechanism of communication and transfer of a variety of molecules and cell organelle.

BWT tunneling

open access: yes, 2021
The Burrows-Wheeler-Transform (BWT) is a well-known reversible text transformation invented by David J. Wheeler around 1978 and published by Mike Burrows and David J. Wheeler in 1994. The key idea of the transform is to sort all suffixes of a given string S in lexicographic order and to concatenate all (cyclically) preceding characters of the sorted ...

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.
