Tunneling Time in Ultrafast Science is Real and Probabilistic

open access: yes, 2013
We compare the main competing theories of tunneling time against experimental measurements using the attoclock in strong laser field ionization of helium atoms.

Ferrocene Derivatives Enable Ultrasensitive Perovskite Photodetectors with Enhanced Reverse Bias Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Robustness evaluation of cutting tool maintenance planning for soft ground tunneling projects

open access: yesUnderground Space, 2018
Tunnel boring machines require extensive maintenance and inspection effort to provide a high availability. The cutting tools of the cutting wheel must be changed timely upon reaching a critical condition.

Analysis of Arch Forming Factors of Shallow Buried Hard Rock Tunnel under Overlying Load

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
To investigate the arching effect of shallow buried hard rock tunnels under overlying load, the engineering scenario of a subway station on Qingdao Metro Line 6 is utilized. A large-scale tunnel loading model test is conducted, in conjunction with finite

Tunneling current between graphene layers

open access: yes, 2013
The physical model that allows to calculate the values of the tunneling current be-tween graphene layers is proposed. The tunneling current according to the pro-posed model is proportional to the area of tunneling transition.

Tunneling Magnetoresistance in Noncollinear Antiferromagnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2022
Antiferromagnetic (AFM) spintronics has emerged as a subfield of spintronics driven by the advantages of antiferromagnets producing no stray fields and exhibiting ultrafast magnetization dynamics. The efficient method to detect an AFM order parameter, known as the Néel vector, by electric means is critical to realize concepts of AFM spintronics.

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Resonant and non-resonant Tunneling through a double barrier

open access: yes, 2004
An explicit expression is obtained for the phase-time corresponding to tunneling of a (non-relativistic) particle through two rectangular barriers, both in the case of resonant and in the case of non-resonant tunneling.

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

Anomalous tunneling conductances of a spin singlet \nu=2/3 edge states: Interplay of Zeeman splitting and Long Range Coulomb Interaction

open access: yes, 1998
The point contact tunneling conductance between edges of the spin singlet $\nu=2/3,\hat{K}=(3/3/0)$ quantum Hall states is studied both in the quasiparticle tunneling picture and in the electron tunneling picture. Due to the interplay of Zeeman splitting
