Back-crack locations of water softening-caused retrogressive bedrock–overburden landslides: a case study of Wuhuamiao landslide

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
This study aimed to investigate back-crack locations of water softening-caused retrogressive bedrock–overburden landslides. First, six laboratory model tests of the Wuhuamiao landslide were performed to investigate the back-crack locations.

Electrical transport properties of nanostructured ferromagnetic perovskite oxides La_0.67Ca_0.33MnO_3 and La_0.5Sr_0.5CoO_3 at low temperatures (5 K > T >0.3 K) and high magnetic field

open access: yes, 2012
We report a comprehensive study of the electrical and magneto-transport properties of nanocrystals of La_0.67Ca_0.33MnO_3 (LCMO) (with size down to 15 nm) and La_0.5Sr_0.5CoO_3 (LSCO) (with size down to 35 nm) in the temperature range 0.3 K to 5 K and ...

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

An experimental and theoretical research on shield screw conveyor discharging efficiency in moderately weathered mudstone strata and its influence on clogging

open access: yesSoils and Foundations
When an earth pressure balance shield machine is tunneling in cohesive soils, a poorly effective soil conditioning scheme often leads to clogging in the cutterhead and the screw conveyor, which reduces tunneling efficiency and may even cause the shield ...

The Statistics of Chaotic Tunnelling

open access: yes, 1999
We discuss the statistics of tunnelling rates in the presence of chaotic classical dynamics. This applies to resonance widths in chaotic metastable wells and to tunnelling splittings in chaotic symmetric double wells.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Dark Spinors Hawking Radiation in String Theory Black Holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Hawking radiation spectrum of Kerr-Sen axion-dilaton black holes is derived, in the context of dark spinors tunnelling across the horizon. Since a black hole has a well defined temperature, it should radiate in principle all the standard model ...

Enhancing Direct Solar Water Splitting via ALD of Multifunctional TiO2/Pt Nanoparticle Coatings With Engineered Interfaces to GaAs/GaInP Tandem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional atomic layer deposited coatings and interface treatments enhance direct solar water splitting on GaAs/GaInP tandem cells. Optimized TiO2/Pt nanoparticle bilayers ensure durability and catalytic efficiency with minimal optical losses, while H2 plasma pretreatments maximize photovoltage and interfacial charge extraction.

Shear strength and deformation characteristics of corn husk fiber-reinforced loess

open access: yesScientific Reports
The use of corn husks to reinforce loess can turn discarded corn husks into a valuable resource and save the cost of loess reinforcement. This study measured and analyzed the shear strength and deformation of corn husk fiber (CHF)-reinforced loesses with
