Tupaiostrongylus major n. sp. and T. minor n. sp. which are co-parasites in Tupaia tana from Indonesia, are differentiated from the type (and only other) species, T. liei Dunn, 1963, by the presence of six and not five tubercles on the female tail and by the morphology of the distal points of the spicules.
