Turaev--Viro invariants and profinite completions of surface bundles

open access: yes
We prove that the Turaev--Viro invariants of the two surface bundles over the circle coincide for every spherical fusion category if the surface group is procongruently conjugacy separable and there exists a regular profinite isomorphism between the fundamental groups.

Isotopy Invaraints of Immersed surfaces in a 4-manifold

open access: yes, 2011
In this this dissertation we introduce an isotopy invariant of generically immersed surfaces in some 4-manifold. The construction is based on Khovanov homology and its variants in the same way as the construction of Turaev-Viro module of a 3-manifold ...

The quantum G_2 link invariant

open access: yes, 1991
We derive an inductive, combinatorial definition of a polynomial-valued regular isotopy invariant of links and tangled graphs. We show that the invariant equals the Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant corresponding to the exceptional simple ...

Turaev–Viro invariant and 3nj symbols [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2000
We propose in this work a new method to construct the Turaev–Viro state sums, using a diagrammatic presentation describing surgery operation as Heegaard splittings. The resulting invariants can be connected with suitable 3nj symbols, and we evaluate them for the lens spaces.

Quantum computation with Turaev–Viro codes

open access: yesAnnals of Physics, 2010
For a 3-manifold with triangulated boundary, the Turaev–Viro topological invariant can be interpreted as a quantum error-correcting code. The code has local stabilizers, identified by Levin and Wen, on a qudit lattice.
