Backpropagation in turbid media

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1999
We extend the backpropagation algorithm of standard diffraction tomography to backpropagation in turbid media. We analyze the behavior of the backpropagation algorithm both for a single-view geometry, as is common in mammography, and for multiple views.

Atmospheric Turbidity Analyzed by Means of Standardized Linke's Turbidity Factor

Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1995
Abstract The concept of standardized Linke's turbidity factor TLAM2 allows the conversion of the usual TL values, which exhibit virtual diurnal variations into new ones, which are strictly representative of the atmospheric turbidity caused by both water vapor and aerosol. The TLAM2 are TL values reduced at relative air mass 2 on the basis of a spectral

Diffusion of light in turbid material

Applied Optics, 1988
The diffusion characteristics of light in a turbid medium depend on whether the medium is dense, sparse, tenuous, or nontenuous. It also depends on whether the medium may be continuum or discrete scatterers. Plane-wave incidence, point-source excitation, and beam waves need to be considered as well as rough surfaces and interface effects.

A Comparison of Visual Turbidity with Turbidity Measured by Commercially Available Instruments

Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists, 2000
A formulation for visual turbidity standards was developed using uniformly sized latex spheres as the turbidity source.

Turbidity as a criterion of coagulation

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1966
Abstract The use of opalescence as criterion of coagulation in aggregating systems is examined. A rapid method of estimating the rate of particle growth is described.

Turbidity of Greek sky

Archiv für Meteorologie, Geophysik und Bioklimatologie Serie B, 1979
In this note, values of the Angstrom turbidity coefficient determined from clear sky global radiation are presented. A mean Angstrom turbidity of 0.10 is derived for the Greek sky. The method is based on an algorithm for computing clear sky global radiation and uses global pyranometer data, which are more widely available than the spectral observations

Determination of absolute turbidities

Journal of Polymer Science, 1952
AbstractA simple method is described for determining absolute turbidities of solutions based on the transmission of light of a highly turbid solution possessing no dissymmetry or depolarization. Stable suspensions of particles of vitreous silica (Ludox) used for this purpose possessed a weight average molecular weight of för millions.
