Optimization of an Alkylpolyglucoside-Based Dishwashing Detergent Formulation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The aim of this work was to formulate and optimize the washing performance of an alkylpolyglucoside-based dishwashing detergent. The liquid detergent was formulated with five ingredients of commercial origin: anionic (linear sodium alkylbenzenesulfonate ...

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Channel Confinement Drives Unidirectional Migration: Coupling of Flow Structure and Sedimentary Evolution in Combined Turbidity–Bottom Current Flows

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Along-slope bottom currents and down-slope (gravity-driven) turbidity currents coexist in the ocean and interact during their flow processes. The interaction between turbidity currents and bottom currents plays a crucial role in determining the lateral ...

Numerical Modeling of turbidity currents with Ansys CFX and Telemac 3D

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
Turbidity currents may be a relevant lever to manage the accumulation of fine sediments in reservoirs. In this paper, we propose to show how two different numerical codes simulate the propagation of turbidity currents.

Quantifying stream phosphorus dynamics and total suspended sediment export in forested watersheds in Vermont [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Globally the quantity of reactive phosphorus (P) in soils, streams and groundwater has greatly increased throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries. This phenomenon is problematic in Vermont, evidenced by the repeated cyanobacteria blooms in shallow ...

4D Mapping of ZIF Biocomposites for High Protein Loading and Tunable Release Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Systematic four‐dimensional mapping of zeolitic imidazolate framework biocomposites reveals how precursor ratios, total concentration, and washing define crystalline phase, protein loading, and release kinetics. This comprehensive study identifies conditions yielding record loading (∼85%) and precise phase–property correlations.

Complex and Cascading Triggering of Submarine Landslides and Turbidity Currents at Volcanic Islands Revealed From Integration of High-Resolution Onshore and Offshore Surveys

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2018
Submerged flanks of volcanic islands are prone to hazards including submarine landslides that may trigger damaging tsunamis and sediment-laden seafloor flows (called “turbidity currents”). These hazards can break seafloor infrastructure which is critical

Generating Cell Surface Nucleated Hydrogels with an Artificial Membrane‐Binding Transglutaminase

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell‐based therapies require advanced strategies to enhance cell delivery and bioactivity. Cell membrane engineering offers an avenue to impart new functions to delivered cells to boost their viability and function. Here, an artificial membrane‐binding transglutaminase is generated and biophysically characterized.
