Endonasal Endoscopic Complete Excision of Unilateral Nasal Hemangioma in a Child: Case Report and Technical Note

open access: yesOman Medical Journal, 2019
Intranasal lobular hemangioma of the inferior turbinate is a rare occurrence in children. A 12-year-old girl presented with a two-month history of multiple epistaxis episodes.

Notch-1 decreased expression contributes to leptin receptor downregulation in nasal epithelium from allergic turbinates.

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Allergic rhinitis is characterized by a remodeling of nasal epithelium. Since the Notch and TGF-β signaling pathways are known to be involved in cell differentiation and remodeling processes and leptin adipokine has already been identified

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Effects of Fluid and Computed Tomographic Technical Factors on Conspicuity of Canine and Feline Nasal Turbinates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Turbinate destruction is an important diagnostic criterion in canine and feline nasal computed tomography (CT). However decreased turbinate visibility may also be caused by technical CT settings and nasal fluid.

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion

Study of Asssociation of Concha Bullosa with Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesBengal Journal of Otolaryngology and Head Neck Surgery, 2016
Introduction There are several studies with contradictory findings about the role of concha bullosa with predisposition to rhinosinusitis. This study was conducted to assess the relationship of osteomeatal unit blockage with concha bullosa ...

Evaluation of tracer recovery from the nasal turbinates of animals treated with daily doses of latanoprost over 3 days (4 animals treated with 0.1 mg/ml; 5 each with the other two doses).

open access: yes, 2021
Nasal turbinates were isolated 1 hour after ventricular tracer injection and between 7 and 9 hours after the final latanoprost dose was given intranasally ...

Advanced Electron Microscopy and Microcomputed Tomography Analysis of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Base Superalloys After Short‐Term Multiaxial Creep

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Anatomical Variations of the Nasal Conchae and Nasal Septum and their Relationships with Alterations in the Maxillary Sinus Mucosa: A Study on Cone-beam Computed Tomography Images

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology
Introduction In the literature, there is divergence about the relationship between anatomical variations of the turbinates and nasal septum (NS) and alterations in the maxillary sinus (MS) mucosa.

The Prevalence of Aberrant Nasal Turbinates and Nasal Septum Deviation in a French Bulldog Population Undergoing Computed Tomography for Disease Other Than Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The presence of nasal septum deviation and aberrant turbinates alters the normal nasal airflow. The relevance of nasal septum deviation in the brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) is still unclear but, together with other anatomical ...
