Effect of Savonius blade height on the performance of a hybrid Darrieus-Savonius wind turbine
A vertical hybrid turbine commonly consists of a Darrieus and Savonius rotor where the Savonius is inside Darrieus turbine. This paper describes the experimental study of hybrid Darrieus-Savonius wind turbines by variation in Savonius blade height.

Radar-derived precipitation climatology for wind turbine blade leading edge erosion
. Wind turbine blade leading edge erosion (LEE) is a potentially significant source of revenue loss for wind farm operators. Thus, it is important to advance understanding of the underlying causes, to generate geospatial estimates of erosion potential to

Water impacting, freezing, melting, and being mechanically removed from the designed dielectric surfaces generates a triboeletric signal that can be used to detect various icing and de‐icing scenarios. The charge transferred directly scales with the interfacial fracture mechanism, further validating triboelectricity as an excellent ice‐detection ...

Flutter of Grouped Turbine Blades [PDF]
An analysis is presented to predict flutter in a wheel of turbine blades which are connected together into a number of identical groups. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of a group are assumed to be known. The unsteady aerodynamic coefficients for free-standing blades are assumed to be known from an unsteady aerodynamic program, and FINSUP is ...
