Efficiency of a Cooled Turbine

2018
D5 Turbine Efficiency Starting from a single stage un-cooled turbine, we extend the definition of turbine efficiency to cover both cooled and multi-stage turbines. The consideration of secondary effects such as pumping work, windage and sealing flows is discussed and the concepts of chargeable and non-chargeable flows are introduced.

Scale Cooling -- A Novel Fractal Cooling Structure for Turbine Vanes

Volume 13: Heat Transfer: General Interest / Additive Manufacturing Impacts on Heat Transfer; Wind Energy
Abstract Additive manufacturing technology provides the possibility of more efficient turbine cooling structures. In this work, a novel structure for turbine air-cooled vane based on fractal structure, named Scale Cooling Structure, was proposed.

Hydrogen cooling for turbine-generators

Electrical Engineering, 1931
With the development of efficient sealing glands and reliable control apparatus the already proved advantages of hydrogen gas as a cooling medium for rotating electrical machinery appear to be readily available for large generators. Actual operating experiences with a 7,500-kv-a. unit are outlined here.
