Nonsystematic Turbo Codes

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2005
In this paper, we introduce the concept of nonsystematic turbo codes and compare them with classical systematic turbo codes. Nonsystematic turbo codes can achieve lower error floors than systematic turbo codes because of their superior effective free distance properties.

Laminated turbo codes

Proceedings. International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005. ISIT 2005., 2005
In this paper we introduce a new coding scheme - so-called laminated turbo codes. It is characterized by a block-convolutional structure that enables us to combine the advantages of a convolutional encoder memory and a block-oriented decoding method. We show that this block-convolutional structure is superior in terms of its error correction capability

Turbo multiuser detection for turbo-coded CDMA

WCNC. 1999 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (Cat. No.99TH8466), 2003
An iterative receiver structure is proposed for decoding multiuser information data in a turbo-coded DS-CDMA system. The receiver performs two successive soft-output decisions, achieved by a soft-input soft-output (SISO) multiuser detector and a bank of single-user SISO channel decoders, through an iterative process.

Turbo Codes and Turbo Equalization

2000
Turbo codes, introduced by Berrou, et al.[Berrou et al., 1993] in 1993, provide large coding gain for the memoryless additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and bring the system performance to within 1 dB from the Shannon capacity limit [Shannon, 1948]. The superior performance soon caused turbo codes to receive intense study.

Grafik Unter Turbo

1988

French Turbo–Propeller and Turbo–Reaction Engines

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1949
When, in the course of his visit to Paris in May 1948, Dr. Roxbee Cox invited me to lecture to the Royal Aeronautical Society on our work in the field of turbopropeller and turbo-reaction engines, I was torn between two sentiments; the great honour which was done to me, and the seeming temerity for a French engineer to discourse on aircraft turbines ...
