A Systematic Targeted Genetic Screen Identifies Proteins Involved in Cytoadherence of the Malaria Parasite P. falciparum

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 123, Issue 4, Page 330-343, April 2025.
In silico workflow for selection of genes targeted in this study. We have identified a number of proteins involved in host cell modification by malaria parasites. Furthermore, we highlight a number of genes that appear to be essential for blood‐stage survival of these parasites.

Knocking out the carboxyltransferase interactor 1 (CTI1) in Chlamydomonas boosted oil content by fivefold without affecting cell growth

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 4, Page 1230-1242, April 2025.
Summary The first step in chloroplast de novo fatty acid synthesis is catalysed by acetyl‐CoA carboxylase (ACCase). As the rate‐limiting step for this pathway, ACCase is subject to both positive and negative regulation. In this study, we identify a Chlamydomonas homologue of the plant carboxyltransferase interactor 1 (CrCTI1) and show that this protein

Cost‐Effective and Highly Scalable Typing of HLA Classes I and II Genes of up to 96 Individuals Using Nanopore Sequencing

open access: yesHLA, Volume 105, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT HLA typing of large donor registries and biobanks as well as acute single patient/donor samples remains expensive, slow and logistically challenging, despite recent developments in the field. We have tested and validated a cost‐effective, accurate and highly scalable method for typing specific genes in the HLA region.
