This book is devoted to one of the essential functions of modern telecommunications systems: channel coding or error correction coding. Its main topic is iteratively decoded algebraic codes, convolutional codes and concatenated codes. It also presents digital modulation with which channel coding is closely associated to make up the heart of the ...

Decoding of LTE Turbo Codes Initialized with the Two Recursive Convolutional Codes
International Convention on Information and Communication Technology, Electronics and Microelectronics, 2020Turbo codes were the first error-correcting codes that demonstrated reliable communications near the channel capacity with practically feasible hardware.

In this paper, we introduce the concept of nonsystematic turbo codes and compare them with classical systematic turbo codes. Nonsystematic turbo codes can achieve lower error floors than systematic turbo codes because of their superior effective free distance properties.

In this paper we introduce a new coding scheme - so-called laminated turbo codes. It is characterized by a block-convolutional structure that enables us to combine the advantages of a convolutional encoder memory and a block-oriented decoding method. We show that this block-convolutional structure is superior in terms of its error correction capability

Partially Information-Coupled Turbo Codes for LTE Systems
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2018We propose a new class of partially information-coupled (PIC) turbo codes to improve the transport block (TB) error rate performance for long-term evolution (LTE) systems, while keeping the hybrid automatic repeat request protocol and the turbo decoder ...
