A Synthetic Facultative CAM‐Like Shuttle in C3 Rice Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 13, April 3, 2025.
This study utilizes gene editing and multigene stacking to design a facultative CAM‐like metabolic pathway that includes a stomatal regulation module, a carboxylation module, a decarboxylation module, and a malate transport module. A facultative CAM‐like metabolic pathway is created in C₃ rice, achieving compatibility between the C₃ cycle and the CAM ...

Prophylactic Fetal Creatine Supplementation Improves Post‐Asphyxial EEG Recovery and Reduces Seizures in Fetal Sheep: Implications for Hypoxic–Ischemic Encephalopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 97, Issue 4, Page 673-687, April 2025.
Objective Hypoxic–ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a major cause of perinatal brain injury. Creatine is a dietary supplement that can increase intracellular phosphocreatine to improve the provision of intracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to meet the increase in metabolic demand of oxygen deprivation.

Dose‐related cardiac outcomes in response to postnatal dexamethasone treatment in premature lambs

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 308, Issue 4, Page 1214-1228, April 2025.
Abstract Background Postnatal corticosteroids are used in the critical care of preterm infants for the prevention and treatment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. We aimed to investigate the effects of early postnatal dexamethasone therapy and dose on cardiac maturation and morphology in preterm lambs.

From Preparation to Performance: Conscientiousness Predicts Negotiation Planning and Value Claiming

open access: yesJournal of Behavioral Decision Making, Volume 38, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Individual difference researchers observe that conscientiousness predicts job but not negotiation performance. This may reflect a genuine absence of this trait's impact on negotiation. But this could also be due to methodological choices in studies to date.

Subcortical Brain Regions Associated With Seizure Risk in Patients With IDH Mutated Diffuse Gliomas

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
Seizures occur in 75% of patients with diffuse glioma, with risk varying by tumour location. This study maps seizure‐associated brain regions, highlighting differences between glioma subtypes and the role of white matter tracts. Findings support personalised treatment strategies and deeper exploration of brain tumour‐related epilepsy (BTRE).
