Plasma Polymerization of Vegetable Oils onto Paper Substrates of Varying Porosity for Improved Hydrophobicity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 11, Issue 35, December 12, 2024.
This work presents a solvent‐free and material‐efficient approach for bio‐based paper coatings by depositing chia oil‐based plasma polymers using a jet‐induced sliding discharge concept at atmospheric pressure. Depending on the amount of coating and the paper porosity, this treatment retards water absorption.

Low Complexity Iterative Receiver Design for Shallow Water Acoustic Channels

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2010
An adaptive iterative receiver structure for the shallow underwater acoustic channel (UAC) is proposed using a decision feedback equalizer (DFE) and employing bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) in conjunction with ...

Iterative Equalization with Decision Feedback based on Expectation Propagation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper investigates the design and analysis of minimum mean square error (MMSE) turbo decision feedback equalization (DFE), with expectation propagation (EP), for single carrier modulations. Classical non iterative DFE structures have substantial advantages at high data rates, even compared to turbo linear equalizers - interference cancellers (LE ...

Over 500°C stable transparent conductive oxide for optoelectronics

open access: yesInfoMat, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2024.
This study presents highly stable aluminum and fluorine co‐doped zinc oxide (AFZO) films, maintaining high mobility of 60 cm2 V−1 s−1 even after air‐annealing at 600°C. Detailed analysis of defects unveil the reasons behind AFZO's durability, settling long‐standing disputes and paving the way for its application in the production of (AlxGa1−x)2O3 solar‐

Survey on coherent multiband splicing techniques for wideband channel characterization

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 18, Issue 19, Page 1319-1334, December 2024.
Coherent multi‐band splicing offers an effective approach, extending existing band‐limited communication systems to support high‐precision sensing applications by combining multiple narrow‐band measurements. However, this method presents considerable challenges, particularly in compensating for phase offsets and hardware distortions before merging the ...

Maximum-LikelihoodSemiblind Equalization of Doubly Selective Channels Using the EM Algorithm

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2010
Maximum-likelihood semi-blind joint channel estimation and equalization for doubly selective channels and single-carrier systems is proposed. We model the doubly selective channel as an FIR filter where each filter tap is modeled as a linear combination

Analysis for sparse channel representation based on dictionary learning in massive MIMO systems

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 18, Issue 20, Page 1728-1740, December 2024.
We provide a qualitative analytical formula for dictionary sparse representation accuracy and establish an optimal upper bound. Abstract The accuracy analysis of dictionary sparse representation for channels in massive MIMO systems is a relatively unexplored field.

Turbo equalization and its improvement in BICM-ID based on hard-decision

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2009
Conventional receivers executed equalization and channel decoding independently. Turbo equalization was a technique which combined equalization and decoding.

Turbo Equalization Based on a Combined VMP-BP Algorithm for Nonlinear Satellite Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Close to saturation operation of high power amplifier (HPA) leads to strong nonlinear and dispersive characteristic of satellite channels. At the receiver, the observation signals are distorted by not only the linear inter-symbol interference (ISI) but ...

Precoded Turbo Equalizer for Power Line Communication Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Power line communication continues to draw increasing interest by promising a wide range of applications including cost-free last-mile communication solution. However, signal transmitted through the power lines deteriorates badly due to the presence of severe inter-symbol interference (ISI) and harsh random pulse noise.
