Cost Pass‐Through in Crisis: Evidence From the German Malt‐Beer Supply Chain

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract Global agri‐food supply chains are increasingly exposed to geopolitical shocks, climate volatility, and market consolidation, factors that disrupt traditional price relationships and reshape market power dynamics. Nowhere is this more visible than in the brewing sector, where agricultural raw materials meet complex industrial processing and ...

Local Chemical Gradients in a Mammalian Cortex Measured In Vivo With a Silicon Nanodialysis Mass Spectrometry Platform

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Fluorescence image of the coronal slice of mouse brain where multiple neurochemicals have been measured in vivo with a nanodialysis platform coupled to CE‐MS to reveal strong millimeter‐scale spatial chemical gradients. Formation and maintenance of such local chemical compartments in the otherwise diffusion‐homogeneous cortex indicates strong ...

Tomography Diagnostics of Turbulent Premixed Flame with Fine and Intense Turbulence

open access: yesJournal of the Visualization Society of Japan, 1998
It is well-known that turbulent wake flow behind the grating which consists of fine cylindrical rods has many eddies with a uniform scale particular to the rod diameter, and exhibits a dominant peak in the frequency spectrum of the velocity fluctuation.

A new drag and lift correlation for spherocylinders from fully resolved Immersed Boundary Method

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Many industrial processes deal with non‐spherical particles, e.g., mineral mining and biomass conversion. It is crucial to understand the particles' hydrodynamics to control and optimize these processes. To extend the current state‐of‐the‐art from arrays of spherical particles to spherocylindrical particles, we performed extensive particle ...

Effect of Turbulence Intensity on Megawatt Wind Turbines

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu, 2013
Effect of turbulence intensity on wind turbines is analyzed in this paper. Simulation has been conducted for limit load, fatigue load and performance of wind turbines at three different turbulence intensity I15= 0.18,0.16,0.14 by taking 1 650 kW variable

Pulsed Doppler lidar for the detection of turbulence in clear air [PDF]

open access: yes
A pulsed C02 Doppler lidar system is described and demonstration tests in ground-based and airborne flight operations are discussed. As a ground-based system, it can detect wind shears in thunderstorm gust fronts to a range of 6 km.

Uncertainties in offshore wind turbulence intensity

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract In the development, design and operation of wind farms the knowledge of wind turbulence intensity is of paramount importance, particularly at hub height. Given that measurements are rare, turbulence intensities are often determined using simplified formulations.

Flow characteristics and regime transitions in fluidization systems of Group C+ particles

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Fine and ultrafine particles are attractive for fluidized bed reactors because their high surface area benefits catalytic processes, but their cohesive nature complicates regime characterization. Nanoparticle modulation improves the flowability of Group C powders, yet their bubbling to turbulent transition remains unclear.
