Diffusivity in turbulent fluid containing two dominant scales, and compressible shear layer according to a kinetic theory [PDF]
The solution of the two nonequilibrium-degree kinetic equation was first determined for the effective length scale and turbulence energy for a spatially homogeneous turbulence field with two characteristic length scales, where the source for one family ...

Physically consistent mesoscale model evaluation in complex terrain
This study introduces a novel approach for evaluating mesoscale atmospheric models in complex terrain by selecting physically consistent grid points and applying height‐based corrections. The method corrects for sensor height and terrain elevation differences between model and observations using a time‐varying lapse rate.

Computation of turbulent boundary layer flows with an algebraic stress turbulence model [PDF]
An algebraic stress turbulence model is presented, characterized by the following: (1) the eddy viscosity expression is derived from the Reynolds stress turbulence model; (2) the turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate equation is improved by including

Friction Shock Absorbers and Reverse Thrust for Fast Multirotor Landing on High‐Speed Vehicles
ABSTRACT Typical landing gears of small uninhabited aerial vehicles (UAV) limit their capability to land on vehicles moving at more than 20–50 km/h due to high drag forces, high pitch angles and potentially high relative horizontal velocities. To enable landing at higher speeds, a combination of lightweight friction shock absorbers and reverse thrust ...

Multispecies Ion Acceleration in the Interaction of Multiple Reconnection Current Sheets
Magnetic reconnection is an important origin of high-energy multispecies ions in the heliosphere, and the interaction of multiple current sheets in reconnection around the kinetic scale is inevitable because of magnetic convection and braiding.

Flamelet Connection to Turbulence Kinetic Energy Dissipation Rate
The turbulence kinetic energy dissipation rate $ε$, from a turbulent combustion computation using either Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) or large-eddy simulation (LES), is proposed for closure with a sub-grid non-premixed flamelet model.

ABSTRACT Accurately predicting open‐channel flow under complex conditions remains a challenge. This study introduces a novel synergetic self‐adaptive data assimilation (DA) framework, using a proportional‐integral‐derivative (PID) controller to dynamically calibrate the bed roughness parameter ks in a shallow‐water equation model (via the momentum ...
