A LES-Langevin model for turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal B - Condensed Matter and Complex Systems, 2005
We propose a new model of turbulence for use in large-eddy simulations (LES). The turbulent force, represented here by the turbulent Lamb vector, is divided in two contributions. The contribution including only subfilter fields is deterministically modeled through a classical eddy-viscosity.

Comprehensive CFD Aerodynamic Simulation of a Sport Motorcycle

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Nowadays, aerodynamics is a key focal point in the vehicle design process. Beyond its direct impact on the performance of a vehicle, it also has significant effects on economics and safety. In the last decade numerical methods, mainly Computational Fluid

A stability condition for turbulence model: From EMMS model to EMMS-based turbulence model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The closure problem of turbulence is still a challenging issue in turbulence modeling. In this work, a stability condition is used to close turbulence. Specifically, we regard single-phase flow as a mixture of turbulent and non-turbulent fluids, separating the structure of turbulence. Subsequently, according to the picture of the turbulent eddy cascade,

On the Relative Effect of Underwater Optical Turbulence in Different Channel Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a simulation framework for modelling optical underwater turbulence in conjunction with absorption and scattering. Using this technique, the channel is evaluated in two ways: the turbulent statistics in different channel conditions ...

Comparison of Different Turbulence Models in Open Channels with Smooth-Rough Bedforms [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2013
The turbulence models play an important role in all types of computational fluid dynamics based numerical modelling. There is no universal turbulence model which can be applied in all the scenarios.

Numerical Studies of Quantum Turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Low. Temp. Phys. 188, 119 (2017), 2017
We review numerical studies of quantum turbulence. Quantum turbulence is currently one of the most important problems in low temperature physics and is actively studied for superfluid helium and atomic Bose--Einstein condensates. A key aspect of quantum turbulence is the dynamics of condensates and quantized vortices. The dynamics of quantized vortices

A Machine Learning Approach to Improve Turbulence Modelling from DNS Data Using Neural Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power, 2021
In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of using DNS data and machine learning algorithms to assist RANS turbulence model development. High-fidelity DNS data are generated with the incompressible Navier–Stokes solver implemented in the spectral/hp ...

Multiscale Turbulence Models Based on Convected Fluid Microstructure

open access: yes, 2012
The Euler-Poincar\'e approach to complex fluids is used to derive multiscale equations for computationally modelling Euler flows as a basis for modelling turbulence.

Large-scale magnetic flux concentrations from turbulent stresses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this study we provide the first numerical demonstration of the effects of turbulence on the mean Lorentz force and the resulting formation of large-scale magnetic structures.
