Ciliary propulsion of objects in tubes: wall drag on swimming Tetrahymena (Ciliata) in the presence of mucin and other long-chain polymers [PDF]
The lubrication effect of three long-chain polymers - mucin, methylcellulose and Ficoll - on ciliary propulsion in tubes is measured by plotting the relative velocities of swimming cilitates as a function of the tube bore diameter.

Nonlinear transient analysis of water lubricated bearing in the turbulent regime
AbstractInfluence of turbulence on the stability characteristics of a water lubricated journal bearing is analyzed. Locus of the journal centre is plotted using the non – linear transient analysis method for different flow regimes of the bearing subjected to three different types of loading.

Fish Scales: A Multifunctional Biomaterial from Nature
Fish scales demonstrate nature's solution to impact protection through overlapping multilayered architecture. This biological design combines mineralized surfaces with collagen networks to achieve both flexibility and fracture resistance. The structural principles inspire advanced protective materials and biomedical implants, where damage tolerance ...

All the bedrooms a stage: Reconceptualizing sex as “performance” to sex as “rehearsal”
Abstract In the United States, sex is often spoken about in terms of performance, and naturally invokes language of theatricality. Sexual performance has been used as an umbrella term to refer to sexual satisfaction, behavior, embodiment, and also pathology in terms of conditions such as erectile dysfunction.

Influence of different types of seals on the stability behavior of turbopumps [PDF]
One of the main problems in designing a centrifugal pump is to achieve a good efficiency while not neglecting the dynamic performance of the machine. The first aspect leads to the design of grooved seals in order to minimize the leakage flow.
