Feast or famine: How food deserts, wealth and greenspace correlate with coyote diets in Seattle, Washington

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 9, Page 3051-3065, September 2026.
Abstract Urban environments create unique challenges for wildlife, where dietary habits may reflect both ecological heterogeneity and societal disparities. In this study, we explored how social factors such as household income and human population density, and ecological factors such as tree canopy correlate with coyote (Canis latrans) diets in Seattle,

Classificazione modale delle vulcaniti del Monte Vulture.

open access: yes, 2006

Morphological Characterization of the Lingual Papillae of the Golden Jackal (Canis aureus): A Scanning Electron Microscopy Study

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Scanning electron microscopy of the Canis aureus tongue identified four distinct papilla types filiform, conical, fungiform and circumvallate, serving mechanical and gustatory functions. The absence of foliate papillae alongside distinct conical morphology reflects evolutionary adaptations optimized for rapid mechanical food processing.

Spraying drones: efficacy of integrating an avian repellent with drone hazing to elicit blackbird flock dispersal and abandonment of sunflower fields

open access: yesWildlife Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 5, September 2026.
Multiple management strategies exist to combat bird damage to agriculture. We explored combining two tools, drones as frightening devices and an avian repellent, to assess effectiveness of an integrated method to deter large flocks on complex landscapes. We evaluated the ability of a spraying drone (DJI Agras MG‐1P) deploying Avian Control (i.e. active

Interannual dynamic resource selection patterns of the northern bobwhite in a region with poor edaphic conditions

open access: yesWildlife Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 5, September 2026.
Understanding an organism's shifting resource needs throughout its life cycle is crucial for developing effective conservation strategies. Northern bobwhite Colinus virginianus populations have been declining for nearly a century due largely to habitat loss/degradation.

Isotopic evidence for the consumption of Galliformes by the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in rural southern England

open access: yesWildlife Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 5, September 2026.
Anthropogenic resource subsidies can drive mesopredator population growth, altering predator–prey dynamics. The red fox Vulpes vulpes is a generalist canid that can readily exploit such subsidies. In the UK, tens of millions of pheasants Phasianus colchicus and red‐legged partridges Alectoris rufa are released annually for sport shooting, potentially ...

Feathers and flu: identifying data gaps in avian influenza host dynamics to prioritize wildlife conservation Plumas y gripe: identificación de datos faltantes en la dinámica de hospedadores de la influenza aviar para priorizar la conservación de la vida silvestre

open access: yesWildlife Monographs, Volume 225, Issue 1, September 2026.
We describe the host response continuum for highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIV), including the continuum of host responses to HPAIV infection and exposure based on the primary axis of host competence, ability to infect other hosts, and host vulnerability.

WASTELAND ACTIVISM: Political Weeds and Ecological Imaginaries in Montreal

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Volume 50, Issue 5, Page 1332-1346, September 2026.
Abstract Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in Montreal, this article examines the ways in which urban dwellers and activists engage with the living materialities of wastelands to illuminate evolving ecological imaginaries and their political potentials.
