A Turkmen Union:The Karamanids

Much of Turkmens who came to Anatolia escaped from the Mongol invasion were settled in the southern regions of Anatolia by the Anatolian Seljuk State which experienced the most powerful period in first quarter of 13th century. These Turkmen tribes were organized under the Karamanids’ administration.

This article is intended to examine the studies done both in Turkey and abroad on Turkmen dictionaries and Turkmen lexicography since 1913 onwards. Types of Turkmen dictionaries are explained in the study. In addition, a list of Turkmen dictionaries and the studies relating Turkmen lexicography is given. That list has not compiled so far.
