Turning Blind Eyes and Profits: The Foreign Role in Argentina’s Dirty War [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When faced with social unrest and an inability to participate in the political sphere, conflict and rebellion blossom. When economics preside over politics, all interaction is divisive and will always be composed of varying layers of two groups: the ...

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Global Leadership in the 21st Century

open access: yesCadmus, 2020
This generation has grown in the belief that history has ended before them, that now we live in an era of comfort and stability. Indeed, the post-Cold War context has given birth to beliefs that global solutions could be agreed upon and implemented to ...

2. The Postwar Scene

open access: yes, 1958
Turning now from the immediate diplomatic aftermath of World War I, let us examine some major features of Western Civilization during what has been called the long weekend, the two decades between that war and World War II (1919-1939). We will note first

Coacervates Made of Elastin‐Like Polypeptides Fused with Melanocyte‐Stimulating Hormone and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein Enhance Skin Wound Healing in Spinal Cord‐Injured Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pressure skin wounds are frequent complications after spinal cord injury (SCI), with impaired healing due to vascular and immune deficits. Elastin‐like polypeptides (ELP) fused to α‐MSH (MSH‐ELP) or MCP‐1 (MCP‐ELP) are developed and tested on these wounds. The resulting nanoparticles are non‐toxic and bioactive, and they enhance macrophage recruitment,

‘Let's Turn the Grass Into Meat’: Animal Husbandry as Women's Work in Cold War North Korea

open access: yesGender & History
ABSTRACTIn postcolonial North Korea, the future of the nation was said to be a function of the feedlot. Unobtainable on the battlefields of the recently ended Korean War, liberation and unification of the peninsula became a question of competitive developmentalism. In this context, planners and pundits in the North turned to the female farmhands of the

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...
