Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Analysis of an object detection function of a turnout and a switch machine

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
Object detection function of turnout and switch mechanism is one of an important function for safety of railway system. An object between a tongue rail and a stock rail on a turnout is detected by a lock mechanism of a switching machine and circuit ...

Nonprofit Messaging and the 2020 Election: Findings from a Nonpartisan Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) Field Experiment

open access: yesNonprofit Policy Forum, 2022
A distinct problem for American democracy is that voter participation rates remain higher among older, wealthier, and more highly educated citizens. Through their nonpartisan get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts, nonprofit organizations can help to remedy the

Global and Regional Temporal Changes in Cross‐Country Inequalities of Site‐Specific Osteoarthritis Burden, 1990 to 2021

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study examined the global and regional temporal changes in cross‐country inequalities of site‐specific osteoarthritis (OA) burden from 1990 to 2021. Methods Age‐standardized years lived with disability rates (ASYRs) for site‐specific OA across 204 countries and territories were obtained from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and ...

Diffusion‐Weighted Imaging for the Evaluation of the Sacroiliac Joint in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Maturational signal in the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) of skeletally immature youth is often misinterpreted as inflammation. Diagnostic tools that improve specificity are greatly needed. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI), when used with standard imaging, may enhance diagnostic accuracy.
