ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition characterized by a preclinical stage that typically lasts for decades. Early on during this time, microglia react to pathological changes and become protective and even transiently delay neurodegeneration.

An objective Bayesian method for including parameter uncertainty in ensemble model output statistics
Conventional model output statistics and ensemble model output statistics methods for calibrating ensemble forecasts lead to severe underestimation of the probabilities of ensemble extremes (in blue). This is because they ignore statistical parameter uncertainty.

Simulating the year to minute wind spectrum with mesoscale‐coupled large‐eddy simulations
We coupled a large‐eddy simulation (resolution 50 m) to a mesoscale model (resolution 2 km), which takes boundary conditions from the ERA5 reanalysis. When using a large enough mesoscale domain (𝒪(1000 km)), the simulation setup can reproduce the observed temporal wind spectrum reasonably at all scales between one year and one minute. Furthermore, such

We systematically summarize how each scale dictates fundamental choices in design feature, manufacturing technology, driving mechanism, and control strategy, which are inherently governed by scale‐dominated physical principles. Furthermore, the application of scale‐determined operation modes of microrobots across different stages of medical ...

Beyond Compliance: Corporate Governance and the Paradox of Gender Equality: Evidence From EU Firms
ABSTRACT The UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 on gender equality is central to the European Union's sustainability and corporate governance agenda. While recent EU regulations have intensified expectations around board gender diversity (BGD) and social disclosure, the organisational drivers through which governance quality translates into ...

ABSTRACT Balancing reliable energy supply, equitable access, and environmental sustainability is a central challenge of the global energy transition. This study examines how innovation influences the energy trilemma by shaping energy security, energy equity, and environmental sustainability across 115 countries from 2011 to 2023.

This review critically compares the electrochemical performance of carbon‐based and alloy‐type anodes for sodium‐ion batteries, with an emphasis on strategies that enhance practical deployment. It highlights how synergistic optimization of microstructure, electrolyte, and presodiation improves hard carbon, while nanostructuring and interfacial ...

Selection of shape for turnout curve of high-speed switches
Transport of the Urals, 2020The main factor at determination of radius of turnout curve under the conditions of comfortable driving is the limitation of centrifugal acceleration increment amount per unit time. For this reason, at designing high-speed switches it is advisable to use variable-radius curves as a turnout curve.

FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF TURNOUT SWITCH MACHINE BASED ON BRAIN-INSPIRED INTELLIGENCE
3rd International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring for Railway System (IWSHM-RS 2021), 2021As the core equipment to control the running direction of railway vehicle, the turnout switch machine, its failure will lead to a series of problems. At present, more and more researchers conduct intelligent re-search on its fault diagnosis. In this paper, aiming at different types of faults during the operation of turnout switch machines, a spiking ...
