Abstract Alien plants have generally been shown to support reduced arthropod abundance, biomass, and diversity compared to native plant species, but inferences have typically come from studies limited in taxonomic and geographic scope. Here, we make use of data from a unique citizen science project, Caterpillars Count!, that consists of nearly 70,000 ...

Subsistence Through Disappearance: Theology of the Unseen in the Films of Michelangelo Antonioni
ABSTRACT The present study contends that the theology of Michelangelo Antonioni's 1960s cinema is structured by a reductio ad absurdum logic, whereby the presence of certain qualities is proven by the portrayal of their absence. It is argued that Antonioni's intention to show what is by specifying what is not may have been rooted in a modernist ...

High‐Speed Imaging Yields Insights Into Throughfall Generation Processes
Canopy drip (TFD) and splash throughfall (TFS) initially originate from gross rainfall (GR) and subsequently also by secondary droplet formation whilst routing through multi‐layered plant canopies. The sum of TFD and TFS equals release throughfall (TFR). Here, TFR is imaged by a high‐speed camera at 15 000 fps.

Stemflows and Preferential Flows: A Historical Review and Challenges for the Future
Possible implementation of stemflow in the MIPS model where all water in the system is represented as particles in pathways of specified velocity. Stemflow (green particles) can be treated as a localised input with probabilities of entering higher velocity pathways than throughfall, depending on the input rates.

Abstract BACKGROUND Botanical extracts are widely consumed for their claimed health benefits, yet their safety profile with respect to chronic consumption remains poorly characterized. Understanding the potential health risks associated with their inorganic content is a crucial issue for ensuring safe use, along with a characterization of the ...
