The Minnesota Twin Family Study is a longitudinal study of 11-year-old and 17-year-old twins and their parents designed to examine factors related to the etiology of substance abuse and related problems. At study intake, the twins and their parents participate in a day-long assessment in our laboratory that includes measures of endophenotypes (e.g ...

Twin studies provide a method for estimating the heritability of phenotypes and for examining genetic and environmental relationships between phenotypes. We conducted a systematic review of twin studies of pain, including both clinical and experimental pain phenotypes. Fifty‐six papers were included, whereof 52 addressed clinical phenotypes.

AbstractIn order to reassess the relative importance of genetic and environmental factors in the development of myopia in Chinese schoolchildren, 90 pairs of MZ and 36 pairs of like-sex DZ twins were enrolled for detailed ophthalmological examination about their ocular refractions. Corneal curvatures and axial lengths were also measured.

The role of genetic factors in panic disorder (PD) and sporadic panic attacks (SPAs) was investigated. A total of 120 twins recruited from the general population were interviewed for the presence of anxiety disorders and SPAs. A significantly higher concordance among MZ than DZ twins was found for PD (73% vs. 0%) but not for SPAs (57% vs. 43%).

Twin–Twin Transfusion Syndrome: A Population-Based Study
Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2004To study the incidence and mortality and morbidity rates of twin-twin transfusion syndrome in a complete population-based cohort in Nova Scotia.A population-based cohort study of all monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies of 20 weeks of gestation or longer born to Nova Scotia (Canada) residents between 1988 and 2000 was examined.
