The endocrinology of dizygotic twinning in the human
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1998Heredity, higher maternal age and increased parity are well defined conditions associated with dizygotic twinning. An endocrine model of excessive secretion of pituitary gonadotrophic hormones explains multiple ovulation as a result of multiple follicle growth.

MONOZYGOTIC AND DIZYGOTIC TWIN DIAGNOSIS
Annals of Human Genetics, 1955SummaryA method of estimating the probability of dizygotic and monozygotic twin pairs is described. Parent‐child and sib‐sib frequency tables for the ABO, MNS and Rhesus blood‐group systems and formulae for obtaining these tables for the P, Lutheran, Kell, Duffy, Kidd and non‐secretor (or Lewis) systems are given.Tables of the distribution of ...

Duodenal atresia in dizygotic twins
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1997The authors report duodenal atresia occurring in both members of dizygotic twins who showed no signs of Down's syndrome, and both had normal chromosomal constitutions. They both had the two unlinked end type of atresia in the second portion of the duodenum, and direct end-to-end duodenoduodenostomy was carried out.

Coarctation of the aorta in dizygotic twins
Cardiology in the Young, 2000AbstractThe incidence of congenital heart disease is higher in monozygotic than dizygotic twins, with a higher concordance rate. Although coarctation of the aorta has previously been reported in monozygotic twins, to the best of our knowledge it has not been described in dizygotic twins. We report here such a concurrence in dizygotic twins conceived by

Sirenomelia dipus in a dizygotic twin
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2002A rare case of sirenomelia in a LBW, IUGR & second of a dizygotic twin having multiple congenital anomalies is being reported. Apart from the features of sirenomelia, the newborn had a single umbilical artery, radial hypoplasia, total anorectal & urogenital agenesis and undetermined sex.

Coital rates and dizygotic twinning
Journal of Biosocial Science, 1972There is some evidence, mostly of an epidemiological nature, that coital rates may be positively associated with dizygotic twinning. It is suggested that this link is causal, in which case an explanation becomes available for some curious—and hitherto unexplained—features of dizygotic twinning rates by maternal age and legitimacy.

Congenital biliary dilatation in dizygotic twins [PDF]
Congenital biliary dilatation (CBD) of different types was recently noted in dizygotic twins. Our cases suggest the possibility of hereditary involvement in CBD. On the other hand, CBD discordance in six sets of monozygotic twins has been reported, which would suggest that the occurrence of CBD is not compatible with single gene control, although ...

Fetal alcohol syndrome in dizygotic twins
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1975A pair of fraternal twins with stigmata of the fetal alcohol syndrome are described. Apparently differences in susceptibility to the dysmorphogenic influence of ethanol caused one twin to be more severely affected than the other one. Both infants are growing poorly postnatally, and both are at risk for retarded development.
