Epithelial mesenchymal transition in urothelial carcinoma: Twist in the tale

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2012
Context: Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process involving conversion of cells from an epithelial to mesenchymal phenotype. The role of candidate genes promoting EMT and favoring a promigratory phenotype has been demonstrated in ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Plot Twist, Final Twist

open access: yes, 2017

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Achilles tendon compliance influences tendon loading more than Achilles tendon twist in Achilles tendinopathy: a musculoskeletal modeling approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
The Achilles tendon exhibits anatomical variations in subtendon twist among individuals, and its compliance can change due to conditions like Achilles tendinopathy.

Twisted Radio Waves and Twisted Thermodynamics

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
We present and analyze a gedanken experiment and show that the assumption that an antenna operating at a single frequency can transmit more than two independent information channels to the far field violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Transmission of a large number of channels, each associated with an angular momentum "twisted wave" mode, to the

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Redesigning of a Canard Control Surface of an Advanced Fighter Aircraft: Effect on Buckling and Aerodynamic Behavior

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures, 2015
A redesign of canard control-surface of an advanced all-metallic fighter aircraft was carried out by using carbon fibre composite (CFC) for ribs and panels. In this study ply-orientations of CFC structure are optimized using a Genetic-Algorithm (GA) with

Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition Proteins in Neuroendocrine Neoplasms: Differential Immunohistochemical Expression in Different Sites and Correlation with Clinico-Pathological Features

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2020
The first step leading to metastasis, or for the acquisition of local invasiveness, involves changes in the phenotype of neoplastic cells in the primary tumor.
