Directional Torsion Sensor Based on a Paired Helical-Type Multimode Fiber
A torsion sensor with directional discrimination based on a single-mode–twisted multimode–single-mode (STMS) fiber structure is demonstrated. The STMS fiber structure is fabricated by fusion-splicing a segment of multimode fiber (MMF) between two single ...

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

The complex-symplectic geometry of SL(2,C)-characters over surfaces
The SL(2)-character variety X of a closed surface M enjoys a natural complex-symplectic structure invariant under the mapping class group G of M. Using the ergodicity of G on the SU(2)-character variety, we deduce that every G-invariant meromorphic ...

Spin–orbit interactions of twisted random light
The twist phase of random light represents a nontrivial two-point phase, endowing the field with orbital angular momentum. Although the mutual transition of the spin and orbit angular momenta of coherent light has been revealed, the relationship between ...
