Optical Methods for the Determination of Combustion Temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1953
A brief survey is presented of optical methods for the determination of temperatures which can be used in rocket engines. The data are presented in outlines and include an outline of basic principles involved in application of a given technique, a sketch

Scanning optical pyrometer for measuring temperatures in hollow cathodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Life-limiting processes in hollow cathodes are determined largely by the temperature of the electron emitter. To support cathode life assessment, a noncontact temperature measurement technique which employs a stepper motor-driven fiber optic probe was ...

Experimental studies on cutting temperature and its effect in high speed turning of difficult-to-cut materials with ceramic tool

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
In high speed turning, six kinds of materials, namely, Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel718, SUS304, S50C, Copper and Aluminum are machined with a ceramic cutting tool in order to investigate the influence of the cutting speed on the temperature of the cutting tool ...

Measurement of Tool-Chip Interfaee Temperature in Turning Using Two-Color Pyrometer

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1999
The temperature of interface between a cutting tool and a chip in dry and wet turning is measured using two color pyrometer with a fused fiber coupler. A translucent Alumina sintered under HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) is used as the cutting tool, and 0.45% carbon steel (S45C) is used as a workpiece.

Temperature Measurement of Wire Electrode in Wire EDM by Two-color Pyrometer

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2018
Abstract In wire electrical discharge machining (EDM), it is considered that one of the major reasons why the wire electrode breakage occurs is the increase of temperature of wire electrode during machining. This is because the increase of the temperature leads to the decrease in the mechanical strength of wire electrode.
