Two-dimensional semantics and the nesting problem [PDF]
Graeme Forbes (2011) raises some problems for two-dimensional semantic theories. The problems concern nested environments: linguistic environments where sentences are nested under both modal and epistemic operators. Closely related problems involving nested environments have been raised by Scott Soames (2005) and Josh Dever (2007).

Abstract Two-dimensional approaches to semantics, broadly understood, recognize two ‘dimensions’ of the meaning or content of linguistic items. On these approaches, expressions and their utterances are associated with two different sorts of semantic values, which play different explanatory roles.

Two-dimensional Kripke Semantics II: Stability and Completeness [PDF]
We revisit the duality between Kripke and algebraic semantics of intuitionistic and intuitionistic modal logic. We find that there is a certain mismatch between the two semantics, which means that not all algebraic models can be embedded into a Kripke model. This leads to an alternative proposal for a relational semantics, the stable semantics. Instead

Two-Dimensional Semantics, Nomic Truth, and Analyticity
We construct a framework of two-dimensional semantics in which the notions of two-dimensional denotation, satisfaction, and truth are explicated in terms of the operators `means' and `means that', and operators of the form `at w' (where `w', denotes a ...

Indexicals: A Problem for Chalmers' Two-Dimensional Semantics
As Chalmers himself notes, his two-dimensional semantics leads to the problem of how scenarios, i.e. epistemically possible worlds, can best represent the information who I am, where I am, and what time it is now.

Moral Realism and Two-Dimensional Semantics [PDF]
Moral realists can, and should, allow that the truth-conditional content of moral judgments is in part attitudinal. I develop a two-dimensional semantics that embraces attitudinal content while preserving realist convictions about the independence of moral facts from our attitudes.

Two-dimensional Kripke Semantics I: Presheaves [PDF]
The study of modal logic has witnessed tremendous development following the introduction of Kripke semantics. However, recent developments in programming languages and type theory have led to a second way of studying modalities, namely through their categorical semantics. We show how the two correspond.

Two-Dimensional Semantics forPredicate-Functor Languages with Operation Symbols
We construct a framework of two-dimensional (2D) semantics for predicate-functor languages with operation symbols and free variables. We show how the satisfaction conditions (at a world) of predicates are determined by their meaning specifications (at ...

Semantics for two-dimensional type theory [PDF]
We propose a general notion of model for two-dimensional type theory, in the form of comprehension bicategories. Examples of comprehension bicategories are plentiful; they include interpretations of directed type theory previously studied in the literature.
