Structure of holo‐chaperonin studied with electron microscopy Oligomeric cpn10 on top of two layers of cpn60 rings with two stripes each [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1992
A structural model of holo‐chaperonin, known as a protein‐folding control protein comprising 60 kDa (cpn60) and 10 kDa polypeptides (cpn10), is proposed based on the electron microscopic images of holo‐chaperonin from Thermus thermophilus and cpn60 from Paracoccus denitrificans.

Stripe Phases in Layered Nickelates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To describe quasi two-dimensional nickelates we introduce an effective Hamiltonian for e(g) electrons, which includes the kinetic energy, on-site Coulomb interactions, spin-spin and Jahn-Teller (static) terms. The experimental stripe phases are correctly

Factors influencing Barley Stripe Mosaic Virus-mediated gene silencing in wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Virus induced gene silencing (VIGS) is a technology that has been used primarily to target the virus genome in infected plants. However, if the virus genome carries inserts derived from the host plant, the system could be employed to target the mRNAs ...

Managing Dynamic Enterprise and Urgent Workloads on Clouds Using Layered Queuing and Historical Performance Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The automatic allocation of enterprise workload to resources can be enhanced by being able to make what-if response time predictions whilst different allocations are being considered.

Two-layered Blogger identification model integrating profile and instance-based methods

open access: yes, 2012
This paper introduces a two-layered framework that improves the result of authorship identification within larger sample numbers of bloggers as compared with earlier work.

PERTURBATION THEORY FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE SCATTERING IN RANDOM LAYERED STRUCTURES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The problem of electromagnetic wave scattering in 3-D random layered structures, is analytical treated by relying on original results of the Boundary Perturbation Theory (BPT) and Volumetric-Perturbative Reciprocal Theory (VPRT), whose structured ...

Two- and three-dimensional bearing-capacity solutions for footings on two-layered clays

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, finite element analysis is used to predict the undrained bearing capacity of strip, square and circular footings resting on layered clays. The soil profile consists of two clay layers with different thicknesses and properties.

Orbital ordering in the layered manganites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The interaction between the long range correlations of electrons and the encompassing crystal structure is a key aspect of solid state physics. This thesis studies the long range interactions of the 3D orbitals in the single and bilayered manganites ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Bifurcations of composite-cavity modes in multi-stripe laser arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We consider a semiconductor laser device, where the active region consists of parallel stripes in the longitudinal direction. In the composite cavity model, the stripes are coupled via the transversal modes of the entire compound laser device.
