Hashing methods have become important retrieval methods for large image databases due to its fast searching time. However, current hashing methods mapping high dimensional real-valued vectors of images to low dimensional hash codes directly may not yield good performance.

Many database systems maintain the consistency of the data by using a locking protocol to restrict access to data items. It has been previously shown that if no information is known about the method of accessing items in the database, then the two-phase protocol is optimal.

Interaction of two-phase debris flow with obstacles
Engineering Geology, 2018Landslides, debris avalanches and flows are common events in mountainous regions, causing tremendous damages to people and infrastructures. Their dynamics are substantially affected and altered by obstacles such as trees, big boulders and civil ...

Two-phase flow models in unbounded two-phase critical flows
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1986Abstract Referring to a Loss-of-Coolant Accident situation in LWRs, an analysis of the two-phase region just downstream from the broken pipe, in which a two-phase critical flow takes place, has been performed. A characterization of the flow pattern inside the unbounded two-phase jet is given considering: • - jet's external shape, obtained by ...

Separated two-phase flow model: application to critical two-phase flow
International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1983Abstract A separated flow model has been developed to allow the calculation of critical flow rates for steam-water mixtures. This model considers hydrodynamic as well as thermal non-equilibrium effects which are present due to rapid depressurization. Thus, this model incorporates interphase interaction terms for momentum, energy and mass.

A Stochastic Two-phase Growth Model
Bulletin of Mathematical Biology, 1998This article proposes a stochastic growth model that starts as a Yule process and is subsequently joined with a Prendiville process when the population attains certain prescribed critical size. In other words, the model assumes a exponential growth in an early stage and logistic growth later on to reflect growth retardation caused by overcrowding.

Publisher Summary Two-phase sampling is typically used when it is very expensive to collect data on the variables of interest, but it is relatively inexpensive to collect data on variables that are correlated with the variables of interest. For example, in forest surveys, it is very difficult and expensive to travel to remote areas to make on-ground ...
