Unveiling the super-orbital modulation of LS I +61 303 in X-rays

open access: yes, 2011
From the longest monitoring of LS I +61 303 done to date by the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) we found evidence for the long-sought, years- long modulation in the X-ray emission of the source.

Study on Flow Distribution and Structure Optimization in a Mix Chamber and Diffuser of a CO2 Two-Phase Ejector

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This paper establishes a mathematic model of a CO2 two-phase ejector to investigate flow distribution in the components of a mixing chamber and diffuser.

CPX‐351 in High‐Risk Relapsed Pediatric Acute Leukemia: Real‐World Phase 1 Data Establishing the FDA‐Approved Dose

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Outcomes for pediatric relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remain dismal. CPX‐351, a liposomal formulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin, may have less off‐target toxicities than traditional chemotherapies and has shown improved outcomes for adults with newly diagnosed therapy‐related AML.

Probing the neutron star spin evolution in the young SMC Be/X-ray binary SXP 1062

open access: yes, 2012
The newly discovered Be/X-ray binary in the Small Magellanic Cloud, SXP 1062, provides the first example of a robust association with a supernova remnant (SNR).

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Optimization and Analysis of Mixer Diameter of Two-phase CO2 Ejectors

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2023
Mixer diameter significantly influences the performance of two-phase ejectors. This study proposes a design method for the mixer diameter of two-phase ejectors based on the turbulent jet mixing mechanism.

Ultra-luminous X-ray sources as super-critical propellers

open access: yes, 2019
We study the evolution of newborn neutron stars in high-mass X-ray binaries interacting with a wind-fed super-Eddington disk. The inner disk is regularized to a radiation-dominated quasi-spherical configuration for which we calculate the inner radius of ...

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

On‐Demand Activation of Thin Alginate Shell Encapsulated Volatile Liquid for Untethered Pneumatic Soft Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐changing liquids enable untethered pneumatic actuation in soft robotics but suffer from volatility and storage challenges. This work reports a simple method to encapsulate Novec 7000 within micron‐thin alginate shells via in situ injection and ionic crosslinking.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...
