A MULTIPHASE FLOW LOOP DESIGN FOR INVESTIGATING THE PARTIAL PHASE SEPARATION IN A PIPE TEE

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2019
This article presents a design and commissioning of a multiphase flow loop, which was developed for scrutinizing the partial phase separation characteristics of pipe Tees. Its length is 9m and its primary diameter is 0.078m (3 inches).

Lattice Boltzmann Method simulation of wellbore gas–liquid phase transition

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Whenever the drilling wellbore is at the state of gas–liquid two-phase flow, gas slips and migrates along the drilling fluid. Due to the decreased wellbore temperature and pressure during gas migration, gas volume will gradually increase.

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Droplet Manipulations in Two Phase Flow Microfluidics

open access: yesMicromachines, 2015
Even though droplet microfluidics has been developed since the early 1980s, the number of applications that have resulted in commercial products is still relatively small.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Equations for two-phase flows: A primer [PDF]

open access: yesMeccanica, 2012
The main goal of these notes is to give a review of the equations for two phase flow problems with an interface between the two phases in a self-contained way, and, in particular, to properly include surface tension into the interface balance equations.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Influence of Direction & Solid Loading Ratio on Two Phase Flow Energy

open access: yesمجلة النهرين للعلوم الهندسية, 2010
This research investigates the influence of solid loading ratio , Reynolds number & angle of flow direction change on minor losses coefficient for two-phase flow type gas-solid through an orifice by manufacturing a special apparatus with solving the ...
