Dynamics of ENSO Phase–Locking and Its Biases in Climate Models

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2022
The contributions of different oceanic feedbacks to the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phase‐locking are examined by deriving ENSO dynamics based on the recharge‐discharge framework.

Mutual phase-locking of planar nano-oscillators

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
Characteristics of phase-locking between Gunn effect-based planar nano-oscillators are studied using an ensemble Monte Carlo (EMC) method. Directly connecting two oscillators in close proximity, e.g.

Coherent amplification of radiation from two phase-locked Josephson junction arrays

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2022
We analyze experimentally and theoretically mutual phase locking and electromagnetic interaction between two linear arrays with a large number of Josephson junctions. Arrays with different separation, either on the same chip or on two separate substrates are studied.

Frequency and phase locking of laser cavity solitons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Self-localized states or dissipative solitons have the freedom of translation in systems with a homogeneous background. When compared to cavity solitons in coherently driven nonlinear optical systems, laser cavity solitons have the additional freedom of ...

Seasonal Gap Theory for ENSO Phase Locking

open access: yesJournal of Climate, 2021
The life cycle of El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) typically follows a seasonal march, onset in spring, developing during summer, maturing in boreal winter, and decaying over the following spring.

Photonic Generation of Microwave Signals Using a Single-Mode VCSEL Subject to Dual-Beam Orthogonal Optical Injection

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We experimentally and theoretically investigate the photonic generation of microwave signals using a long-wavelength single-transverse-mode vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) subject to two-frequency orthogonal optical injection.

Stimulus-locked responses of two phase oscillators coupled with delayed feedback [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2006
For a system of two phase oscillators coupled with delayed self-feedback we study the impact of pulsatile stimulation administered to both oscillators. This system models the dynamics of two coupled phase-locked loops (PLLs) with a finite internal delay within each loop.

Mutual synchronization of spin-torque oscillators within a ring array

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
An array of spin torque nano-oscillators (STNOs), coupled by dipolar interaction and arranged on a ring, has been studied numerically and analytically.

Simulations of ENSO Phase-locking in CMIP5 and CMIP6

open access: yes, 2021
The characteristics of El-Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phase-locking in observations and CMIP5 and CMIP6 models are examined in this study. Two metrics based on the peaking month histogram for all El Niño and La Niña events are adopted to delineate ...

Oscillatory solitons and time-resolved phase locking of two polariton condensates

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
When pumped nonresonantly, semiconductor microcavity polaritons form Bose–Einstein condensates that can be manipulated optically. Using tightly-focused excitation spots, radially expanding condensates can be formed in close proximity.
