A Novel Approach to Dropped Pronoun Translation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Dropped Pronouns (DP) in which pronouns are frequently dropped in the source language but should be retained in the target language are challenge in machine translation. In response to this problem, we propose a semi-supervised approach to recall possibly missing pronouns in the translation.

Switchable and high-efficiency phase-locking of S-band magnetrons with coaxial line

open access: yesAIP Advances
We propose a coaxial line structure for phase-locking between magnetrons in the S-band for the first time. In this structure, two magnetrons operating in the π-mode are tightly coupled by the coaxial line.

A new secure 2PL real-time concurrency control algorithm (ES2PL)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Intelligent Networks, 2022
A secure concurrency control algorithms must be devoid of covert channels originating from data conflicts between transactions, in addition to ensuring database integrity.

Hydrodynamic phase-locking of swimming microorganisms

open access: yes, 2009
Some microorganisms, such as spermatozoa, synchronize their flagella when swimming in close proximity. Using a simplified model (two infinite, parallel, two-dimensional waving sheets), we show that phase-locking arises from hydrodynamics forces alone ...

Mutual phase locking of a coupled laser diode-Gunn diode pair [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Mutual phase locking has been achieved through series connection of a semiconductor laser and a Gunn diode oscillator. Experimental results obtained demonstrate a mutual interaction between the two oscillators which results in a short term Gunn diode ...

An Examination of Aerosol Jet‐Printed Surface Roughness and its Impact on the Performance of High‐Frequency Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

Evaluation of Phase Locking and Cross Correlation Methods for Estimating the Time Lag between Brain Sites: A Simulation Approach

open access: yesBasic and Clinical Neuroscience, 2014
Introduction: Direction and latency of electrical connectivity between different sites of brain explains brain neural functionality. We compared efficiency of cross correlation and phase locking methods in time lag estimation which are based on local ...

Hippocampal theta coordinates memory processing during visual exploration

open access: yeseLife, 2020
The hippocampus supports memory encoding and retrieval, which may occur at distinct phases of the theta cycle. These processes dynamically interact over rapid timescales, especially when sensory information conflicts with memory.

Thalamic deep brain stimulation modulates cycles of seizure risk in epilepsy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Chronic brain recordings suggest that seizure risk is not uniform, but rather varies systematically relative to daily (circadian) and multiday (multidien) cycles.
