The two-photon spectrum of 2H- and 4H-PbI2 was measured at low temperatures in the exciton region. Most of the 2H-crystals show clearly resolved structure which is interpreted as transitions to 2P- and 3P-excitons and phonon sidebands. The temperature dependence of the spectrum supports the assignment.

Sensitization of two-photon absorption
Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1975It is proposed to use nonradiative energy transport between molecules in Sensitization of two-photon absorption. This method can be used in those cases when direct two-photon excitation is parity-forbidden. Conditions under which this effect may be observed experimentally are formulated.
