Thermally Activated Swelling and Wetting Transition of Frozen Polymer Brushes:a New Concept for Surface Functionalization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 26, July 3, 2025.
A novel approach is introduced that leverages polymer phase transitions to modulate brush behavior. The oleophilic bottle brush system exhibits two distinct melting transitions—bulk and surface—enabling a two‐stage swelling and wetting transition.

Solution of boundary value problems for batteries: Operator‐theoretic methods

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 71, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Batteries with porous electrodes of negligible ionic and electronic conduction resistance are modeled with reaction‐diffusion equations in multilayered media. The classical separation of variables becomes inapplicable to battery problems because of nonlinearities in reaction rates and constraints of imposed current. A linear operator‐theoretic

Dynamic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy: A Forward Application Approach for Lithium‐Ion Battery Status Assessment

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
Focusing on the black‐box problem in the battery field, this review provides an introduction to dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (DEIS), an emerging nondestructive testing technique. It first systematically explains the fundamental principles of DEIS and its analytical methods. Then, it explores its applications across four key areas: (1)

Mesoporous Semi‐Permeable Flexible Polyurethane Membranes: Advancing Bioartificial Pancreas Design for Type 1 Diabetes Treatment

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 46, Issue 13, July 04, 2025.
Elastomeric mesoporous membranes are developed for the elaboration of a bioartificial pancreas for type 1 diabetes treatment. Using green‐electrospinning followed by thermal and washing post‐treatments, the membranes achieve ≈20 nm pore sizes, biocompatibility, and mechanical strength and flexibility.
